July 1

We start this week's post with Daphne's Adventures in Munich Part 2. We had the morning to explore the old town. Here's a picture of the Rathaus Glockenspiel playing:

I also found this in the street:

In the afternoon, we took a tour of the Bayerische Staatsoper.

ree

In the evening, I went to dinner with Aiden and Reed. After a month of eating German food, we gave in and went to Hard Rock Cafe.

Today was our return trip to Berlin.

ree

After the train ride and three days of exploring Munich, I was ready to--hey, who's that?

ree

As it turns out, Ben was on the same train as us. You can imagine my surprise when I saw him on the escalator out. I decided to take him out to dinner at BBQ Kitchen. He said he really liked the chicken wings!

July 3

Ben and I spent the morning together. Neither of us had any idea of what we wanted to do, so we walked around Museum Island and Alexanderplatz. He also showed me the World Clock in Alexanderplatz.

Yes, I did notice that woman in the foreground. Anyway, Ben and I stopped for ice cream.

July 4

This morning, we got a newsletter with our meal stipends. Here are the pictures the staff took in Munich.

This afternoon's activity was a trip to the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church. Here is the statue of Jesus that stood at the altar of the old church.

ree

And here's the new church!

ree

We also visited Schlossgarten Charlottenburg.

ree

Also, the bottom shelf fell off our refrigerator door, so we've repurposed it.

This afternoon, we went to the East Side Gallery, and I went a little picture crazy. Here are just a few paintings I saw along my walk.

This afternoon, I did the most German thing you could imagine: seeing Thor: Love and Thunder in the theater. It's German in the sense that it came out in Germany two days before it's set to come out in the States, and I also paid extra for 3D glasses.

ree

This evening, we took an excursion to Prenzlauer Berg. We went to dinner as a group at Koi 56. I decided to order the ramen. It tasted good, but it would have tasted better if the wait was less than an hour.

July 7

There was a chance of rain all day today. As I ate my breakfast at Kamps, I took in the view of the tram station in the rain.

ree

This afternoon, we went to the Film and Television Museum. Once again, I went picture-crazy. It was actually a really cool museum. It started with this winding path with movie clips and mirrors everywhere.

ree

I call this one How Many Daphnes Can You Spot?

ree

Here's a model of the shooting of Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari.

ree

And another of the city in Metropolis.

ree

This room had different outfits worn by Marlene Dietrich. I wish I could have gotten them all in one photo!

ree

The television section had this arrangement of TVs in it.

ree

The last part was a viewing area where you could watch television clips and mini-biographies of prominent figures in television. I parked myself here for nearly 15 minutes watching German game show clips.

ree

Finally, I went out to dinner with Gabriella at Yam Yam Korean Cuisine and took the much-demanded Selfie With Gabriella.
